Classic Race Services (CRS) began in September, 1989 by Mark Morris and G. Will Chamberlin. Both Mark and Will were runners in the Athens, GA area. In 1991, Mark moved to Alabama to go to helicopter school, compliments of the US Army Reserve, and then to Hinesville, GA where he works at Fort Stewart. Will became the sole owner of Classic Race Services by default and in 1995 decided to leave Reliance Electric Company after 20 years and make a go of the race business. In 2004, Carole Black started working with Will and Classic Race Services. The number of races managed by Classic Race Services grew to well over 100 in 2009. Sadly, in April, 2010, Will Chamberlin passed away following a stroke. Carole, his partner of the past six years, has continued running the company and has asked Tim Bagley, a dedicated runner, to work with Classic Race Services as the new partner. Carole and Tim plan to continue growing the company and providing excellent race management services, just as Will had done for the past 21 years.
Classic Race Services can provide all your finish line, race timing, and results needs. Classic Race Services has built its reputation by its timeliness of results posting. Our goal is to have complete results (both overall and age group) posted within a few hours of the event. Results can be found at www.runningintheusa.com, www.active.com, and www.coolrunning.com and are also available through the Run and See Georgia Grand Prix web site,www.georgiarunner.com. Printed results are found in the Running Journal, a monthly publication, and its online site www.running.net.
Classic Race Services can now offer race directors chip timing with our new Jaguar Chip Timing System. This state of the art technology places RFID chips on the runners bibs and tracks the runners with 4 antennae mounted on our finish line structure. The chips are activated as the runner nears the finish line and tracks the progress until the chip crosses the plane of the finish line. If you are a new race or one of our existing races and want more information and pricing, please contact us.
We also can assist with course layout, measurement, volunteer needs, and complete race event planning. Click here for an information and FAQ sheet on how to have a successful race. If you are planning a race event, please consider Classic Race Services.
